Sanjay Kumbhare

Sanjay is developing a practice in commercial and insurance litigation. He graduated from the Dual JD program at the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.

While at law school, he developed a passion for advocacy through participating in various mooting competitions. He won the Keenan Appellate Advocacy Tournament, the final round of which was argued before judges of the Michigan Court of Appeal and Michigan Supreme Court. He also received the Student Law Society’s award for his involvement in the school, as a teaching assistant in constitutional law course and as the chair of the Student Law Society.

He summered and articled at a prominent criminal defense firm in downtown Toronto where he had experience appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice, representing clients in the Provincial Offences Court, and conducting hearings before the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board.

After being called to the Bar, Sanjay completed his MBA at the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University. He was part of the winning team in Degroote’s integrated project consulting case competition. The team’s ideas were selected by a notable real estate agency to be incorporated into their business strategy. While at DeGroote, he was a teaching assistant for the Management Skills Development program.

Sanjay enjoys reading business books, playing golf, running and fitness (sometimes), and being an obsessive basketball fan.
